 | Shapps inspects new ASDA door |
 |
Hatfield shoppers and traders have welcomed a brand new set of sliding doors which have solved problems caused by the previous revolving doors at the ASDA town centre store.
MP Grant Shapps went along to inspect the new entrance after the £100,000 refit was completed and welcomed the change.
The original revolving doors frequently broke down and with parts having to be shipped from Europe, days would sometimes pass during which shoppers could not easily access the rest of Hatfield town centre.
Chatting with Manager Gavin Duncan by the new doors the MP said, "ASDA generates lots of activity in Hatfield and whenever the old doors broke down it meant that shoppers couldn't easily access the rest of the town centre. Things are already tough enough for traders in Hatfield without having access severely restricted.
"I raised this matter with ASDA Headquarters 18 months ago and they have been true to their word by replacing this set of doors. Obviously it makes sense for them to do this but it hasn't been without cost and I know that the other traders and shoppers will welcome the new installation."
Grant Shapps also used his ASDA visit to hold an impromptu walk-in surgery where members of the public could come and raise any issues with directly with their MP.
